July 1st, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Come celebrate Canada Day with your family!

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Open house and tour of the Interpretation Centre
  • 1 p.m.: Rallies, obstacle courses, and sponge battle!
  • 3 p.m.: Canada Day cake
  • 7 p.m.: Music concert (group to be confirmed)

Come experience and discover the history of the Voltigeurs, those true heroes of the War of 1812 and the great victors of the Battle of the Châteauguay.

Ongoing activities throughout the day:

  • Presence of a military encampment from the war of 1812
  • Black powder shooting demonstration
  • Military exercises

Archaeology Month

Saturdays and Sundays in August, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Archaeology Month will take place from August 1 to 31, 2016. Close to 50 locations across Quebec will offer activities for everyone to appeal groups of novices or enthusiasts, small or large. For 31 days, archaeology will come into our lives and bring us a little further in our understanding of our society, history and heritage.

Take a bicycle trip through the history of the Battle of the Châteauguay by exploring the archaeological landscape of the battlefield! Accompanied by a guide, follow the marked trail over a distance of more than 14 km between Howick and Ormstown, and relive this great feat of arms that took place along the Châteauguay River.

Animation and interpretation area

Presentation and demonstration comparing black powder firing of firearms in service in Canada from the 17th to the 19th centuries.

  • The musket and the Carignan-Salières Regiment
  • The flint rifle and the Compagnies franches de la Marine
  • Percussion musket and British soldiers

Animation on the life of a solider

  • Presentation on the uniform and the equipment of the Voltigeurs during the War of 1812
  • Sampling meatsoup certified 0-5-30 and the British army biscuit
