From Bog to Fog

Join a guided walk along the Birchy Nuddick Trail to see what the landscape
offered the Vikings and others. Explore the bog and coastal terrain and what
nature provides. “From Bog to Fog” is an interweaving of the
site’s natural and cultural history, where the sea meets the land, and
follows a boardwalk and coastal footpath. (Enhanced program fee applies.
Maximum participants: 12.)
The Meeting of Two Worlds Tour
10 June to 27 Sept. 2013
Several times daily (45 minutes), check with visitor centre recption desk
English and French tours available
Learn how archaeology informs our understanding of history as a knowledgeable
interpreter leads you to the Norse archaeological site. Discover how the site
is internationally significant for what it tells us of the worldwide movement
of people.
Viking Encampment
1 June to 5 Oct.
Daily, during operational hours
Visit the reconstructed sod huts and have your own personal encounter with a
Viking. Immerse yourself in Viking life and help our Viking Interpreters
carry out their daily chores.
Explore on Your Own
Start your visit with the film in the visitor centre theatre. Visualize the
site with our 3-D model. Touch replicas of the site’s original
artifacts. Stop a while at one of the benches or coastal viewpoints and
reflect on the events that played out at L’Anse aux Meadows 1000 years
ago.
Xplorers for Kids!
Do your kids like to explore? Pick up the free Xplorers book at the visitor
centre and have fun doing some special activities. When finished, don’t
forget to collect a cool souvenir. (Free for kids 6–11 years.)
Viking on Board

spectacular coastal vistas and learn about local culture. Join us in Vinland
for a exhilarating blend of nature, storytelling, and hospitality as you

Sagas and Shadows

Raise your glass with a Viking for an evening of heroic and tragic tales from
the Viking Sagas. Let the kitchen fire warm you as our Viking interpreters
lead you on an expedition of adventure and exploration through storytelling.

Textile Art of the Viking Age
1 July to 8 Sept.
Wed., Thurs., Fri., & Sun., 10:30 a.m.
Join our knowledgeable interpreters to try your hand at Viking Age textile
art. Make a Viking leather pouch, learn to single needle knit or weave your
way through time and create your own souvenir of your visit. (Purchase of
kit required. Maximum participants: 20.)
