Visit Old Crow

Vuntut National Park

Old Crow is a fly-in community 50 kilometres from the park’s southern edge. The welcoming village, population approximately 300, offers a rare immersion into authentic northern living and Vuntut Gwitchin culture. A visit can be an experience unto itself or part of a larger trip to the park.

Stroll through streets lined with log cabins and smokehouses adorned with caribou antlers, evidence of the continued importance of the animal in daily life. Chat with locals on the banks of the Porcupine River and learn about their connection with the land and animals that continue to sustain them.

John Tizya Centre exhibits

Visit the John Tizya Centre, where exhibits and historic photos showcase the area’s natural and cultural histories. Talk with centre staff and learn about Vuntut Gwitchin people’s special connection to this national park, where their traditions and teachings are passed from one generation to another.
