Hours and seasons of operation

Mount Revelstoke National Park is open year-round, but some visitor facilities are closed from October to May. Visitor Information hubs offer park information, trail updates, pass and permit sales, backcountry camping information and much more.

Visitor Information

Mount Revelstoke National Park and the City of Revelstoke are on Pacific Time. Hours are subject to change.

Seasonality

Mount Revelstoke National Park offers outdoor recreation activities year-round at lower elevation and seasonally at higher elevation during the summer months. The area receives meters of snow all the way to the valley bottom each winter, and access to different areas of the mountain opens up gradually as the snow melts in late spring and early summer. Always check the Trail Conditions Report before heading into the park.

Meadows in the Sky Parkway

Access to higher elevation trails in Mount Revelstoke National Park opens up as the snow melts along the Meadows in the Sky Parkway. When fully open, the Parkway takes visitors up roughly 1600m elevation above the valley bottom on a 25 km paved road. The summit of Mount Revelstoke is a moderate 1 km walk from the highest visitor parking area, accessible parking is also available at the summit (please ask at the parkway kiosk). 

The lower elevation trails are accessible year-round from the Nels Nelsen historic area. Additional trails may be accessible at lower elevation along the parkway as it opens to the snowline on May long weekend. Snow can sometimes linger into late July or early August at the higher elevations. Opening of the road and summit trails is dependent upon snow melt. Always check the Trail Conditions Report or see park staff for up-to-date conditions when you arrive.

The Nels Nelsen Historic Area

Mount Revelstoke lower trails are open year-round. During spring, summer and fall, a variety of trails offer good hiking, trail running and biking for all ages and fitness levels. The Nels Nelsen area is connected by trail to Snowforest Campground and is home to the historic ski jump and the Beaver Lodge kids bike park.

In the winter, snow settles on the lower mountain and the road is plowed to the Nels Nelsen parking area, making it a great destination for winter walking, snowshoeing or fat-biking. 

Trans-Canada Highway Attractions

The Giant Cedars and Skunk Cabbage areas are located about 30 km east of the parkway, along the Trans-Canada Highway in Mount Revelstoke National Park. These visitor areas open in late May (3rd weekend) and close in mid-October.
