Waterton Lakes National Park

Important Bulletin: Soft Sided Camping (tents and tent trailers) in Belly River Campground is NOT RECOMMENDED. A black bear has damaged tents in the area. The bear has not received a food reward or shown signs of aggression.

Townsite Campground

2023 reservations for Townsite Campground are now available

Operating season (nights): April 1 to October 10, 2023 (weather permitting)

Reservable period (nights): May 4 to September 10, 2023

Belly River Campground

Belly River Campground is open May 12 to September 4, 2023.

Campsites at Belly River Campground are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. We do not take reservations for this campground.

During peak season (July and August), the campground tends to fill quickly and is usually full for the night by early afternoon.

Group camping

Group camping is available at Belly River Campground. This camping area is for groups of 25 or more.

Starting April 1, 2023, reservations can be made for Belly River Group Campground: Phone number: 403-859-5109 to reserve.

Backcountry camping

There are 10 backcountry campgrounds in Waterton Lakes National Park: Alderson Lake, Bertha Bay, Bertha Lake, Boundary Bay, Crandell Lake, Goat Lake, Lineham Lakes, Lone Lake, Snowshoe and Twin Lakes.

Crandell Mountain Campground

Crandell Mountain Campground remains closed due to damage sustained in the Kenow Wildfire.
