Location specific considerations

Locations for research and collection permits are referred to as heritage areas in the application form and on the permit. Individual heritage areas may have additional considerations beyond those identified in the applicant's guide.

These considerations may include:

  • a specific intake period for receiving and reviewing applications
  • considerations for travel and accessing remote locations
  • longer processing time to allow for consultations with Indigenous peoples
  • additional terms and conditions for the permit

Please contact the research coordinator for the heritage areas of interest to find out if there are any additional considerations prior to submitting an application for a research and collection permit.
