Area closure: The use of horses for any purpose

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent: The use of horses for any purpose including horseback riding.

WHERE:

- Trail south of Blakiston/Tamarack junction
- All trails and roadways accessible from the Akamina Parkway
- Alderson–Carthew Trail
- Lakeshore trail from the townsite to Boundary Bay
- Bertha Lake Trail

WHY: To restrict the spread of invasive plants in the burned area until the vegetation can recover.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.

END DATE: Until further notice.
