Fire ban

Pursuant to subsection 3(1)(c) of the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations, where the Superintendent deems it necessary for the prevention of fires, she may prohibit fires in any area of a Park. Effective immediately, and until further notice, starting or maintaining open fires anywhere in Kluane National Park & Reserve is hereby prohibited except in permanent fire rings in the Kathleen Lake Campground (with a valid camping permit) and the Kathleen Lake Day Use Area (no permit required).

Self-contained barbecues, hibachis, and portable gas stoves and are still permitted for cooking throughout the National Park and Reserve.

Provisions of Yukon First Nation Final Agreements, court decisions, and other aboriginal rights, as reached through an agreement with Canada, may take precedence over any restrictions/prohibitions made under these Regulations.
