Area Closure: Bald eagle nesting area in Jasper National Park

What:
Pursuant to subsection 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:
Where:
The area bound by a 200 m radius from the Medicine Lake Eagle nest and the west gravel edge of the Maligne Lake road. The closure includes all land and water within this area: The nest is located at the north-east corner of the lake. The GPS coordinate of the nest is (universal transverse Mercator, NAD 83) 11U 446237mE by 5858306mN. The attached map provides a graphic description of the closed area.
Why:
To protect nesting Bald Eagles from human disturbance.
Penalty:
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
