Info-Work: Temporary lane reduction of Horseshoe Lake Road
Issued: July 16, 2019
Ends: January 01, 2020
Peterborough, Ontario, July 16, 2019 – Horseshoe Lake Road (County Road 20), along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site in Haliburton County near Minden, will be subject to a lane closure near the Horseshoe Lake Dam, south of Bethel Road, beginning July 22, 2019.
This one-lane closure will enable the placement of machinery on the road, and is required for the completion of planned infrastructure work to replace the Horseshoe Lake Dam. The lane closure is expected to be in place until December 31, 2019.
*Note: An unrelated lane closure will be in effect in advance of this, on behalf of Whitewater Ontario, to accommodate the North American Open Canoe Championships from July 17 – July 21.
The replacement of the Horseshoe Lake Dam will improve hydraulic capacity, public and operator safety, site access, and mechanical equipment. The new dam will also restore public access across the dam by providing a safe pedestrian walkway separated from the operating mechanisms. The new dam is expected to be complete in spring 2020.
This work is part of the Government of Canada’s unprecedented $3 billion dollar investment in Parks Canada’s places to support infrastructure work to heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets within national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas across Canada.
