Avalanche Control Prohibitions and Restrictions
Issued: November 16, 2023
Pursuant to Section 7 of the National Parks General Regulations, these restrictions are in effect to protect the public from avalanche control actions including the extreme danger resulting from artillery fire, and resulting direct and sympathetic avalanches.
Winter Access Prohibitions and Restrictions
Entry and travel into the following areas of Glacier National Park is always prohibited:

Entry and travel into the following areas of Glacier National Park is prohibited except when posted open for the day. When open, access is restricted to individuals with valid Winter Permits and guests under the supervision of a certified guide in possession of a Winter Restricted Area Guided Group Permit. National Park Passes are also required:

Winter Permits are valid daily, from the time Winter Restricted Areas are posted as open for entry, (Rogers Pass Discovery Centre, 250-837-SKIS, and parkscanada.gc.ca/winterpermitareas), to midnight of the same day and only for those Winter Restricted Areas which have been opened for entry and travel on that day. Winter Permits are subject to specific terms and conditions.

Winter parking prohibitions and restrictions
Glacier National Park visitors must use the designated or unrestricted Winter Permit Parking Areas as follows:

Visitors entering Winter Unrestricted Areas, other than those adjacent to the Bostock Parking and Beaver Parking Winter Restricted Area, may use unrestricted parking and do not need to display a Winter Parking Permit.
Winter Permits which designate parking at the Beaver Trailhead include permission to use the Beaver Parking Winter Restricted Area.
Non-compliance with permit conditions is a violation under the Canada National Parks Act and Regulations that will be prosecuted and may result in fines up to $25,000 and/or permit suspension or cancellation.
These prohibitions and restrictions are effective November 16, 2023 until the seasonal end of the avalanche control program.
