RESTRICTED ACTIVITY: Cannabis Use in Campgrounds

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act,  the following activities are prohibited, by order of the Superintendent:

Consumption of cannabis or cannabis products beyond your campsite.

WHERE: Public areas of all campgrounds in Banff National Park including washroom buildings, roads, trails, theatres, cook shelters and inside Parks Canada-provided accommodations (oTENTiks and Equipped Camping tents): Tunnel Mountain Village I, Tunnel Mountain Village II, Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court, Two Jack Main, Two Jack Lakeside, Cascade Overflow, Johnston Canyon, Castle Mountain, Protection Mountain, Lake Louise Trailer, Lake Louise Tent, Lake Louise Overflow, Rampart Creek, Silverhorn, Waterfowl Lakes and Mosquito Creek.

WHY: To reduce visitor safety risk, to promote a quality visitor experience and enhance the safety and enjoyment of all public areas in the campgrounds.

PENALTY: VIOLATION OF THIS PROHIBITION MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE CANCELLATION OF YOUR CAMPING PERMIT, EVICTION FROM THE CAMPGROUND, OR CHARGES UNDER THE CANADA NATIONAL PARKS ACT. CAMPING FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
