By working in collaboration with respected organisations that share our values, Parks Canada is able to better deliver our promise to Canadians by continuing to be a world leader in the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. We believe in sharing leadership and working with our partners to offer unique, inspiring opportunities for Canadians to discover our treasured places and to achieve extraordinary results.

Local partners

Mountain Equipment Coop

Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) is a retail co-op that sells exclusively to members. Members get the best products at fair prices, access to rental gear, one of the best guarantees around, and 1% of every sale goes to support the outdoor community. A lifetime membership is $5: the same since 1971.

A for Adventure

The A for Adventure movement aims to inspire kids, families, and people to get out and explore the world around them! A for Adventure wants to inspire the next generation to get outside and play, creating a foundation for a happier, healthier life... and a better life for our planet too!

Shubie Campground

Parks Canada is proud to partner with Shubie Campground to create more accessible opportunities for Nova Scotians to experience the joys of camping through the Learn-to Camp program. Shubie Campground is nestled in a unique park setting, surrounded by 2 lakes and the historic Shubenacadie Canal, and is close to downtown Dartmouth and Halifax. This space offers Learn-to Camp participants the chance to try cooking outdoors, canoeing, hiking, sleeping in tents, and more, all while in a safe and clean environment in the heart of the city.

This partnership enables Parks Canada and Shubie Campground to work with more summer camps, youth groups, and other organizations for whom the journey to Parks Canada locations, like Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site, may not be feasible.

The Learn-to Camp program at Shubie Campground is full for 2021. Please contact Aaron Shenkman ( to learn more.
