Issued: March 14, 2016
Pursuant to Subsection 41(1) of the National Parks Highway Traffic Regulations, the Superintendent may permit and specify areas where snowmobiling is allowed in the Park & Reserve. This notice serves as written permission to use snowmobiles in the following areas only of Kluane National Park & Reserve:
· The pipeline right-of-way within Kluane National Park & Reserve from the Dezadeash River Bridge (south of Haines Junction) to the old Dezadeash Lake Lodge.
· The access road between the Haines Highway, up to and including the Kathleen Lake Day Use Parking Lot (this does not include the road to the Campground).
· The ice surface of Kathleen Lake (this does not include any tributaries, the shore, or neighbouring lakes).
Pursuant to the National Parks Highway Traffic Regulations and the Yukon Motor Vehicles Act, snowmobiles must be registered and properly equipped when operated on roads and parking lots, operators must be licensed, and both operators and passengers are required to wear helmets. The use of snowmobiles remains prohibited in all other areas of Kluane National Park & Reserve.
Provisions of Yukon First Nation Final Agreements, court decisions, and other aboriginal rights, as reached through an agreement with Canada, may take precedence over any restrictions/prohibitions made under these Regulations.
