The Kluane National Park and Reserve Visitor Centre is looking for your photos to display!

What’s the Kluane Photo Challenge?

Kluane National Park and Reserve is asking community members to submit photos of their adventures in the park to update one of our exhibits at the park visitor centre in Daku. The exhibit is called “Your trail to adventure starts here” and features photos of various aspects of the park.

Why do we need this? Seeing pictures of locals exploring, recreating, and engaging in traditional activities in the park can help give visitors a better understanding and appreciation of the area and the people who live here.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for pictures of locals going on family outings, hikes and outdoor activities, backcountry adventures and citizens engaging in traditional activities on the land.

How to enter

You can email the photo or a photo sharing link to For each photo chosen, the photographer will be asked to sign a transfer of image ownership agreement, and signed media release forms for any people in the photo(s). The park is not purchasing the photos, but a photographer’s credit will appear on those chosen for use, and your photo will educate visitors on how people live and thrive in Kluane! If email is not your thing, you can also call 867-634-7207 and talk to a Parks Canada staff member about how to submit in other ways (in-person, etc.).

Who can participate? Local residents of Haines Junction and the surrounding communities. Parks Canada employees can submit their pictures, but won’t be eligible for the draw.

Challenge dates

From August 1st to September 19th, 2021

Each photo enters a draw for fun prizes!

Every picture submitted enters a draw for three fun prizes! The draw will happen on September 19th, 2021, and the three winners will be contacted to hear what they’ve won.

How will you know if your photo will be used? A selection committee will pick the top 20 photos to go up on the wall that will be rotated throughout the seasons. If your photo is selected for the exhibit, you will be contacted for more information.
