La Mauricie National Park

Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Company present Learn-to Camp, a nationwide program designed to enable all Canadians to take part in various workshops focused on the discovery of camping.The event is organized in collaboration with the Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP) and Escapade Mauricie (in French only).

Learn-to Camp at La Mauricie National Park

Within the framework of this program, La Mauricie National Park will be holding an activity to introductory camping activity. The Learn-to Camp program is a chance for first-time campers to connect with nature and learn basic camping skills.

During this activity, participants will enjoy an integration experience all as part of discovering the joys of a genuine camping experience. Participants will have the opportunity to spend the night in a tent and take part in various workshops organized with a view to introducing them to this highly popular activity.

Since places are limited, you must register in advance by calling 1-844-365-2646. The telephone registration line is open from 10 am to 6 pm Eastern Daylight Time, Monday to Friday.

You'll camp at the La Clarière group campground. You can arrive from 10:30 am and leave at 3 pm the next day.

You can drive directly to the Esker parking lot. From there, you'll have the choice of walking to the La Clairière campground (700 m away) or enjoying the shuttle service. Events will take place rain or shine. They will be presented mainly in French, but bilingual staff and volunteers will be available.

  • Excursion - 6-km round-trip hike and swim at Les Cascades
  • Free activities - Introduction to paddleboarding, swimming, games, etc.
  • Camping and outdoor workshop
Dinner

A few teams will have the chance to take part in our friendly "Battle of the chefs" competition for a chance to win a weekend in oTENTik accommodation in La Mauricie National Park.

  • Option 1: Take part in the animated rally for a chance to win a one-night stay in a family room at Domaine Wabenaki-Andrew, offered by Aventure Éco-Parc Mauricie.
  • Option 2: Free activities - Introduction to paddleboarding, swimming at La Clairière, games, etc.

  • Suitable, comfortable clothing for the outdoors (remember that it can be cool at night so bring a variety of clothing so that you will be able to layer for warmth)

  • Food for 1 breakfast, 2 lunches and 1 dinner + snacks. Food should be brought in a cooler.
*** There is no electricity or refrigerator at the campground. It will therefore be necessary to bring ice to preserve the food. Food must be stored in the cupboards inside the shelters for the duration of the stay. It is forbidden to store food in a tent as this could attract animals. ***

The last day to cancel is July 15 (for the July 22-23 weekend) and August 5 (for the August 12-13 weekend). If you cancel your reservation more than seven days before the date of the activity, you will receive a full refund. However, there will be no refund if cancellation occurs seven days or less before the activity date.
