The Green Gables Golf Course was constructed in Cavendish soon after the park was created. Designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Stanley Thompson, it stretches between the sand dunes at Cavendish Beach and the former farm fields surrounding Green Gables Heritage Place. The first nine holes opened for play in 1939 and the remaining nine were opened in 1940. While the original layout was altered in the early 1980s to accommodate migrating sand dunes, the golf course was redeveloped in 2008 to bring it back to the original design that Stanley Thompson had in mind.

The Green Gables Golf Course is still considered one of the best courses in Prince Edward Island. It is a pleasure to play and the views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Cavendish dunes are stunning.
