Every national park in Canada has a management plan that provides a long-term vision and strategic direction for the park. Management plans are reviewed, with input and involvement from partners, stakeholders and the public, to ensure that the plan remains valid and effective.

A review of the 2002 Aulavik National Park Management Plan was initiated in 2010. Parks Canada staff worked with partners, interest groups and the general public to shape the development of the new management plan. Consultations concluded in 2011.
