Picnic areas and playgrounds
Food just tastes better when it is served outdoors. There are picnic tables located throughout Kejimkujik, including three sites along the Mersey River and two sites at swimming beaches on the shore of Kejimkujik Lake. Two picnic areas, especially for canoeists, are located along the lakeshore on Indian Point in the middle of Kejimkujik Lake.
There are no fireplaces at the picnic sites, although there are woodstoves in the shelters. In an effort to control the spread of invasive species, bringing in firewood from outside the park is prohibited. Firewood is available for sale at the campground kiosk and at the Visitor Centre.
The largest playground is near Merrymakedge Beach at P1. You can drive to this playground, and it is also on the walking/biking trail between the campground and Merrymakedge Beach. There is a large, grassy picnic area, a picnic shelter, and flush toilets. Smaller playgrounds are to be found right at Merrymakedge Beach and also at Kedge Beach. Other playgrounds are located within Jeremy's Bay Campground.
