Keji’s Backyard Ultra

Sports and recreation
Location(s): Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site

June 25 to June 27, 2022

Nova Scotia Trail Running presents the first-ever backyard ultra in Kejimkujik!

The 2022 event is sold out, but spectators are welcome to cheer on the runners.

Starting at 9 am Saturday, June 25, 130 participants will leave Jim Charles Point, running past the Campground Kiosk and up the Campground Road to the rainbow crosswalk. Here they’ll hop on the scenic Mersey River Trail, following the river to connect with the Slapfoot Trail and returning to the starting point at Jim Charles Point. Participants will have one hour to complete this 6.67 km loop.

Keji’s Backyard Ultra is a “last person standing” event, meaning participants will run this loop every hour on the hour until only one person is left (the winner!).

The race is expected to continue into Sunday or possibly even Monday.

Best of luck to all participants!

Please note:

The gravel road to Jim Charles Point will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, June 25, for the safety of participants.

During this time, visitors are welcome to walk or bike on the Jim Charles Point Road or to access the Jim Charles area via the Slapfoot trail.

The Campground Road, Kedge Beach, and all trails will remain open for the duration of the race, but please travel with caution and watch for racers.
