Parks Canada advises of the following update:

• Neil’s Harbour to Ingonish (Still Brook) has re-opened to one way traffic

Parks Canada advises the public that these closures will remain in place in Cape Breton Highlands National Park:

• From Neils Harbour to Ingonish (Still Brook)
• At French Mountain

They will be reassessed in the morning (September 25).

The following areas have re-opened:

• Keltic Road
• West entrance to the park just north of Chéticamp

Additionally, campgrounds in Cape Breton Highlands National Park remain closed until September 30. Visitors who have booked campsites this week will be contacted about the cancellation and refunding of these reservations, while we assess and attend to damages caused by this weekend’s hurricane.

This is still an active weather event and extremely dangerous. Trees and power lines may be across the road. Please stay home and off the roads so we can all weather the storm together.

As always, safety remains of the utmost importance for Parks Canada. Our aim is to reconnect the communities of northern Cape Breton as soon as possible. We apologize for the disruptions caused by this weather event.

Please be advised that the Cabot Trail is currently closed at multiple points due to unsafe conditions caused by Hurricane Fiona.

Closures are in place:

• Warren Lake
• from Neils Harbour to Ingonish (Still Brook)
• at French Mountain
• at the west entrance to the park just north of Chéticamp

These closures will remain in place until conditions improve, the roadway is assessed and conditions are deemed safe.

This is still an active weather event and extremely dangerous. Trees and power lines may be across the road. Please stay home and off the roads so we can all weather the storm together.
