Goowiddy path

Terra Nova National Park

Trek through a mature black spruce forest along the coast of Newman Sound. Catch your breath in the red chairs at Buckley's Cove before heading inland (with some moderate climbs) to the tranquil waters of Blue Hill Pond. After a rest, follow the boardwalk out to the coast.

This trail can be wet in places so wear appropriate footwear.

“Goowiddy” is a Newfoundland term for the low shrubs commonly seen on this trail.

Location: Goowiddy Path is located just outside the Visitor Centre, roughly 1km off Route 1 (TransCanada Highway)

Habitat: Boreal forest, coastline, small beaches, barachois, bog, pond, bracken ferns, goowiddy – a low shrub commonly found on this trail.

Trailhead/Access: Trailhead located just outside the Visitor Centre.
