SNOWMOBILING SEASON HAS NOW CLOSED IN GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK

Issued: April 07, 2021

Ends: May 23, 2021

Rocky Harbour, NL, April 07, 2021 – The snowmobiling season in Gros Morne National Park will close effective April 7, 2021 due to rapidly deteriorating snow conditions.

While the permit required to access the national park by snowmobile stated the season would run from November 1, 2020 to May 15, 2021 (for Resident Permit holders) and January 15 to April 30, 2021 (for Public/Commercial Snowmobile Permit holders), dates are subject to change at the discretion of Parks Canada due to factors such as, but not limited to, unfavorable snow conditions, dangerous areas, or impact to ecosystems.

We thank snowmobilers for staying safe, respecting the designated corridors, and working with our staff to protect and conserve our environment. By following the conditions of the snowmobile permits, riders have helped to ensure that the wonders of Gros Morne National Park are protected into the future.
