Snowmobiling is a great way for visitors to experience Gros Morne National Park. But, before you head out, know the regulations.

You must obtain and sign a national park entry pass and a snowmobile operator’s permit. Carry these with you at all times when inside the park.

Be aware there are designated corridors that riders are expected to use. These are marked on the map that comes with your permit. It is your responsibility to know your location at all times.

If you are a resident of Cow Head, St. Pauls, Sally’s Cove, Rocky Harbour, Norris Point, Glenburnie–Birchy Head–Shoal Brook, Woody Point, or Trout River and operate a snowmobile in Gros Morne National Park you need a Resident Snowmobile Operator’s Permit in addition to a Park Entry Pass. Snowmobile Operator’s Permits are free of charge. They are valid every year, from 1 November to 15 May, until they expire. Download the snowmobile map and GPS track file. Residents’ immediate family members may receive a Resident Snowmobile Operator’s Permit. Immediate family is defined as parent, step-parent, foster parent, sibling, spouse, common-law spouse, step-child, ward of the resident, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the resident’s household or with whom the resident permanently resides.

Snowmobile Operator’s Permits and Park Entry Passes are available at the following park facilities:

Discovery Centre, Woody Point (Wednesdays: 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
Park Administration Building, Rocky Harbour (Mon.–Fri., 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
& 1–4:30 pm)
Warden Office, Cow Head (Thurs., 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
