There may be fewer birds around in winter, but with no leaves on the trees, they’re easier to see!

In the winter, the best place to observe birds is from our trails, which are accessible by walkingsnowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Species you may encounter include (but are not limited to):

  • Northern Saw-whet Owl
  • Blue Jay
  • Black-capped Chickadee
  • American Goldfinch
  • Lincoln’s sparrow
  • Mourning Dove

Meet other birders by participating in the Annual Christmas Bird Count held in mid-December.

This winter in Kouchibouguac, you won’t need a smartphone to hear tweets!
