Mi’gmaq traditions come alive in an immersive, enlightening Wigwam gathering
Connect with a Mi’gmaq First Nations interpreter and be whisked away on an immersive experience as centuries-old Aboriginal culture is brought to life.
Set in Kouchibouguac’s Big Wigwam, overlooking Callanders Beach, you’ll be enthralled by the deep roots of the Mi’gmaq people—unveiled through historical stories, entertaining folklore, traditional regalia and deep spirituality. Follow the footwork of an elaborate dance and get hands-on with replica artefacts and actual animal pelts.
Before you depart to explore the park—now with deeper context and understanding—your host will lead you through the process of creating a friendship bracelet, adornment of the Mi’gmaq people, to wear on your travels. Let this heritage guide you—Kouchibouguac’s human story intertwines with every dive-bombing osprey, every prancing deer and every starry night.
