One Bird, Two Birds, Red Bird, Blue Bird...The tradition continues at Fundy National Park.

What: Fundy's 54th Annual Christmas Bird Count

When: Friday, December 14, 2018

Birdwatching enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone wanting to enjoy a nice winter walk in beautiful Fundy National Park are invited to participate in the 54th Fundy Christmas Bird Count. Talk to your friends and family and travel together to the shores of the Bay of Fundy.

The Salt & Fir Centre will be open all day as a warming station, with coffee and tea provided. At the end of the day, warm up to good food and refreshments provided by the Friends of Fundy (Fundy Guild), between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm at the Salt & Fir Centre. We will share the results of the day with all those in attendance.

No need to be an expert as novice birdwatchers will be paired with the more experienced. Bird counts reveal scientifically important information on the distribution, species and numbers of winter birds.

Please contact the Fundy Christmas Bird Count Coordinator to register, or for more information, at or call 506-863-8391. Please register by Monday, December 10.

The count takes place within a 24-kilometer diameter circle centered on Kinnie Brook. Within the area, organizers attempt to field as many counters as they can. Participants are grouped into "parties", and with a party leader they explore a sector of the park looking for all the birds it may harbour.

Fundy's bird census is one of more than 2000 similar counts designed to survey populations of winter birds in Canada, the United States, South and Central America.

Fundy National Park is partnering with the Friends of Fundy (Fundy Guild) to bring you the 54th Fundy Christmas Bird Count.
