Campgrounds in Kootenay and Yoho national parks
WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the possession and consumption of cannabis and cannabis products during summer long weekends is prohibited by order of the Superintendent.
Pursuant to Section 13(b) of the National Parks Camping Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is hereby prohibited during summer long weekends by order of the Superintendent.
WHERE: Redstreak, Marble Canyon, McLeod Meadows, Crooks Meadows, Monarch, Takakkaw Falls, Hoodoo Creek and Kicking Horse.
DATES:
- Victoria Day long weekend: Friday May 15 – Monday May 18, 2020
- Heritage Day/BC Day long weekend: Friday July 31 – Monday August 3, 2020
- Labour Day long weekend: Friday September 4 – Monday September 7, 2020
Policies are in effect from 7 a.m. on the first day until noon on the last day.
PENALTY: Violation of this prohibition may result in immediate cancellation of your camping permit, eviction from the campground, or charges under the Canada National Parks Act; maximum penalty $25 000. Camping fees will not be refunded.
