RESTRICTED ACTIVITY - Cannabis use in campgrounds

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activities are prohibited, by order of the Superintendent:

Consumption of cannabis or cannabis products beyond your campsite.

WHERE: Public areas of all campgrounds in Yoho National Park including washroom buildings, roads, trails, theatres, cook shelters and inside Parks Canada-provided accommodations (oTENTiks and Equipped Camping tents): Takakkaw Falls, Kicking Horse, Monarch, Lake O’Hara and Hoodoo Creek.

WHY: To reduce visitor safety risk, to promote a quality visitor experience and enhance the safety and enjoyment of all public areas in the campgrounds.

PENALTY:  Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
