Gulf Islands National Park Reserve is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, one of the five oceans supporting life on Earth. These interconnected oceans contain 97% of Earth’s water and help keep the Earth in balance by regulating weather and climate, absorbing carbon dioxide, and producing oxygen.

At Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, understanding the ocean’s influence on us, and our influence on the ocean, is an important part of all of our research and monitoring programs.
