Hours and seasons of operation
Glacier National Park is open year-round, but many visitor facilities are closed by snow from October to May. Please check the Trail Conditions Report and Winter Restricted Area Status Report for daily updates.
Rogers Pass Discovery Centre
Explore Magazine calls it the best national park museum in Canada.
At the heart of Rogers Pass National Historic Site, the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre is a replica of an historic railway snowshed.
An essential place to start or end your day, this recently-renovated information centre features a theatre, exhibits about avalanches, wildlife and the history of the area.
The Discovery Centre is the only frontcountry facility open during the early spring and winter when campgrounds, trails and day-use areas lie under a two-metre blanket of snow.

Beaver Valley Campground: Closed
Trails are opened as early in the year as the snowpack allows. Delays in trail openings may occur when bears are present in the area or when snow has caused damage to trail structures. Generally, frontcountry trails are open by mid-June and backcountry trails are open by mid to late July. All trails remain open until the autumn snowfall (usually mid-October).
Backcountry Ski Touring
The ski season in Glacier National Park usually begins in mid-November and lasts until the end of April. The Winter Permit System (which allows backcountry users to enter Winter Restricted Areas that can be affected by the highway avalanche program when artillery gunfire is not anticipated) is usually in effect from late November until late April.
