Research as a designated activity

Effective date: January 1 to December 31

Where: Includes all areas within Jasper National Park

Why: Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, all natural, archaeological or social science research is hereby listed as a designated activity throughout Jasper National Park of Canada by order of the Superintendent, Jasper National Park of Canada.

Information: Participation in this designated activity requires a permit from the Superintendent issued pursuant to section 7(5) of the National Park General Regulations.

Research includes all scientific activities pertaining to natural, archaeological or social science studies that involve fieldwork, collection of archaeological and natural objects (or specimens), and/or have the potential to disturb resources or visitors.

It is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act to conduct research without a permit. Violators will be investigated and may be prosecuted.
