Fire ban for Jasper National Park

Activities prohibited
Pursuant to section 3(1)(c) of the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations, the starting and/ or maintaining of fires in all day use areas, picnic sites, and backcountry campgrounds in Jasper National Park of Canada is hereby prohibited by order of the Superintendent, Jasper National Park of Canada.
This fire ban includes ALL open fires, EXCEPT, provided they are under direct supervision and certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC), the following are permitted:
- portable propane fire pits
- gas or propane stoves and barbeques, designed for cooking or heating
- propane or gas fuelled lanterns (enclosed flame)
- patio heaters (propane, catalytic or infrared/radiant)
Where
The fire ban applies to all day use areas, picnic sites, and backcountry campgrounds within Jasper National Park.
Why
To reduce the risk of human-caused wildfire in Jasper National Park during a period of extreme fire danger.
Note
It is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act to contravene these prohibitions. Failure to comply may result in immediate cancellation of the camping permit, eviction from the campground and violators may be charged.
