Marmot Learning Centre

Located at Jasper’s famous Marmot Basin Ski Area, the Marmot Learning Centre is the only interactive ski-in, ski-out classroom in Canada. Free, on-mountain educational sessions are offered to school groups through a unique partnership between Marmot Basin, Parks Canada and the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division.

All sessions are linked to Alberta and BC school curriculum.

Active Learning Sessions

We get students connected with the outdoors through hands-on experience. The following 1-hour sessions are delivered by Parks Canada.


Learn the basics of avalanche awareness and rescue using beacons and probes.

Winter Work

Ski patrollers, parka designers, snow scientists. Winter is essential to some jobs. Get an inside look at winter occupations in Jasper National Park and beyond.

Emergency Situations
Learn about the hazards involved in winter travel. Find out how to help yourself and others if things go wrong.

Species at Risk
Some of Jasper’s wildlife is in trouble! Find out who they are and what can be done to help them.
