Attention! Heatwave causing rising water levels in Jasper National Park

  • Extreme heat, rain and/or snow melt cause water levels to rise quickly
  • Floods and washouts may happen on roads, trails, and near waters
  • Boulders, snow, and ice may fall (down) from mountain sides, cliffs, and canyons
  • Some water crossings may be unsafe for hikers
  • Be prepared to change your plans

Throughout Jasper National Park, from April to November, there is a small chance of being exposed to Lyme disease if bitten by an infected blacklegged (deer) tick. Lyme disease is a serious illness; however, it's easy to prevent and treat when caught early.

Dogs are prohibited from trails and areas in important caribou habitat to reduce the stress that dogs have on this threatened species.
