Experience the wetlands dispersed within Elk Island National Park! Elk Island is well-known for the conservation of the iconic bison but located within its 194 km2 are vast wetlands which are also conserved and recognised for their importance within an ecosystem.

Wetland Wonders content aligns with Grade 5 Science curriculum and Alberta Education’s dedication to incorporating Indigenous and traditional views. Two unique wetlands will be visited: a bog and a pond. At each location, hands-on activities and games will explore the fauna who inhabit wetlands, unique flora who is specially adapted to live there, as well as properties such as temperature and pH. Additionally, a visit to the bog includes a short hike and a visit to the pond includes pond-dipping.
