Spot Closure – Wolverine Research

WHAT:  Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:

Several small areas (0.01 hectare) in Banff National Park will be closed to prevent park visitors from entering a site where carcasses are present for wolverine research purposes. This area is not on a trail or in a location heavily visited by the public. The closed area will be clearly marked. 
      
WHERE: Several small remote areas in Banff National Park

WHY: To ensure public safety and prevent animal disturbance where carcasses and camera traps are present.

PENALTY:  Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
