RESTRICTED ACTIVITY: Lake Minnewanka Reservoir Motorized Watercraft Restriction

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

Launching a motorized watercraft at Lake Minnewanka Reservoir is a "Restricted Activity." Any motorized watercraft that been in waters outside Alberta or British Columbia in the last 30 days must undergo a Parks Canada or provincial watercraft inspection, and possess a valid inspection BEFORE launching into Lake Minnewanka.    

WHERE: Lake Minnewanka reservoir

WHY: To reduce the risk of introducing invasive aquatic species into Lake Minnewanka reservoir.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
