Let our Heritage Interpreters give you the in-depth story of the riverboats that maneuvered the tricky currents of the upper Yukon River. Hear fascinating stories of life on the river. Discover how much wood it took to keep the paddlewheel turning. Learn how the ship’s captain negotiated the rapids. Find out what the crew did if the ship got stuck on a sandbar!

Due to ongoing heritage conservation work, on-board tours of the S.S. Klondike vessel will not be available before mid-June. The visitor centre will be open May 21, 2022. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Access to the S.S. Klondike is by guided tour or accompanied visit only. Self-guided visits to the vessel are temporarily unavailable.

We recommend you check in 30 minutes ahead of time. This will give you time to watch the 20 minute video “In the Days of the Riverboats” before your tour begins.

The upper decks of the S.S. Klondike remain closed due to structural concerns. Work to address these concerns is ongoing.
