Journey Through Time
Giddy up! Mount your wooden steed and gallop on a journey through time to meet the townsfolk of Batoche to learn about life on the prairies in the 1800s. Explore the village by the winding South Saskatchewan River and hear its stories told by knowledgeable staff in period costume playing the characters who once called this land home. Talk to Métis settlers and help them out with chores on the homestead – but mind you don’t get left cleaning out the “thunder mugs”!
Take cover in the original rifle pits where our ancestors hid from the canon fire and guns blazing as the peaceful village was overtaken by tragedy and became the last battlefield in the 1885 Northwest Resistance. View the bullet holes in the rectory wall, flinch at the sound of gun fire in the distance. Spend 90 minutes immersed in a time that changed the face of Canada.
