Parks Canada is pleased to participate in the ALO Richelieu project, which coordinates and promotes a variety of tourist stops on the Richelieu River. Thanks to the collaboration of La Route de Champlain and their electric boat shuttle services, you can access Île aux Noix and enjoy its green spaces and rural setting. The fortification is closed for the continuation of major rehabilitation work and enhancement of the barracks.

The island boasts a very diverse ecosystem. The diversity of natural environments promotes the presence of a variety of fauna and flora typical of the Richelieu Valley. The moat has the same characteristics as a pond: you are likely to see turtles, frogs and a variety of aquatic plants. As you walk to the northern tip of the island, pay attention to the birdsong. Our teams have identified 23 species of birds so far!

Above all, the island is the perfect place to share a picnic with your family.
