You like fishing? You will be happy to know that it’s possible to do urban fishing at the Lachine Canal and all over Montreal. Summer months are here and a great way to enjoy the sun is to take your fishing rod along the Lachine Canal, which is 13.5 kilometres.

How to get there?

  • Using public transport, from the Lionel-Groulx metro station.
  • By bike, you can use the cycling path.

Important

  • No fishing is permitted within 10 meters of a lock, an approach wharf or over a bridge that spans the canal.
  • Eat fishes with moderation. Because of contaminated sediments layer in the bottom of the canal, legacy of the industrial period.
