Lachine Canal National Historic Site

You like fishing? You will be happy to know that it’s possible to do urban fishing at the Lachine Canal and all over Montreal. Summer months are here and a great way to enjoy the sun is to take your fishing rod along the Lachine Canal, which is 13.5 kilometres.

How to get there?

  • Using public transport, from the Lionel-Groulx metro station.
  • By bike, you can use the cycling path.

Important

  • No fishing is permitted within 10 meters of a lock, an approach wharf or over a bridge that spans the canal.
  • Eat fishes with moderation. Because of contaminated sediments layer in the bottom of the canal, legacy of the industrial period.
