September 25 – Contractor mobilizes on site and trails adjacent to canal will be closed at this location.
October 2 - County Road 64 will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at Brighton Road Bridge.
October 10 – Trent-Severn Waterway will be closed to all navigation at Brighton Road Bridge.
Please note that during construction, the following closures will be in place:
- Park and washroom facilities at the bridge station site will be closed for the duration of the project
- There will be no access through the construction zone on the trails on both sides of the canal; and
- Following the regular boat navigation season along the Trent-Severn Waterway, which closes on October 9th, 2017, the canal will be closed to all vessels at the construction site from October 10th through to mid-May 2018. There will be no access through the Murray Canal at this location and no mooring facilities will be available during construction.
The replacement of the Brighton Road Swing Bridge is part of Parks Canada’s unprecedented $3 billion investment over 5 years to support infrastructure work to heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas across Canada. These historic investments will mitigate health and safety risks, halt the loss of nationally significant built heritage, and stimulate the economy in communities across the country.
