Get ready to skate at the coolest place in town! The Vintage – Parks Canada skating rink is free for all to enjoy and is located beside Fort George National Historic Site. Add to your experience by visiting the fort on Saturdays and Sundays. Free admission for youth 17 and under. Plan your visit.

Open skating (weekdays)
During these hours, there are no dedicated staff, concessions, rentals, or music available:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10 am to 5 pm
  • Friday: 10 am to 4 pm

Family and evening skating (weekends)
Skate rentals ($5 for girl's size 7 and boy's size 11 to adult's size 12), helmet rentals (free), dedicated rink staff, concessions, music, and activities are available during these hours: 

  • Friday: 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am to 1 pm, 2 pm to 5 pm, 6 pm to 9 pm
  • Sunday: 10 am to 1 pm, 2 pm to 5 pm

Skating rink rules

Please check and familiarize yourself with our rink rules below. These rules will be strictly enforced. Skate aids or pushes ARE permitted on the ice surface and we recommend that if you are or have a beginner skater joining us that you do bring your own as they will not be provided for you and our rink does not have boards to grasp onto.

Please note all children aged 12 and under must be wearing a CSA approved helmet while on the ice. If they do not have a helmet they may be asked to leave. Helmets are provided for free on Friday (5 pm to 9 pm), Saturday (10 am to 9 pm), and Sunday (10 am to 5 pm) ONLY. Skate aids may be used and beginners are encouraged to use the center ice.

  • All participants must wear skates on ice surface
  • No food or drink is permitted on the ice surface
  • No horseplay or games
  • No balls, pucks, hockey sticks on the ice
  • No sleds or strollers
  • Children 12 or under must be supervised by an adult at least 18 years of age
  • Refrain from carrying children
  • Please skate at a sensible speed
  • Do not throw ice or snow
  • Do not jump over ropes or barriers
  • No chain skating
  • Report all incidents to staff members at trailer
  • Respect other skaters and rink staff directions
