    Cost: $11.90 per person, $10.20 Senior, $3.90 Youth

    Experience Fort George as it was before the War of 1812. Historic interpreters meet and guide your group through an orientation to the site, describing the lifestyles of soldiers, officers, families and civilians who inhabited or worked at the Fort. You will learn about the War of 1812, compare the Soldier's barracks to the Officer's Quarters, discover why the original powder magazine still stands, and experience a musket demonstration. A pre-booked guided tour is an hour in duration.

    Program details:

    • • This experience is mainly outdoors so please dress for the weather.
    • • Tours can be booked for 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only.
    • • Call 905-468-6614 to register a space on the tour.
    • • It is recommended that you book at least a week in advance and group sizes are up to a maximum of 9 people.

  • Fort George Murder Mystery

    The Fort George Murder Mystery is back with a brand new experience! It’s murder most un-FORT-unate and Major Blue is looking for some keen detectives to help uncover a murderer in a classic "who done it?" with an historical twist. Tour the Fort to uncover clues and interview suspects with hopes of finding the guilty party with the possibility of winning a prize!!

    Tickets must be purchased in advance online here.

    Program details:

    • • This experience is completely outdoors so please dress for the weather (flashlights are also permitted).
    • • In the event of severe weather, you will be contacted via email the morning of about an alternative date for your experience which has been scheduled for October 9, 2020.
    • • Tours (5 total) will start at 7:00pm and the experience will last approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.
    • • Tours commence in 15 minute rotations (7:00pm, 7:15pm, 7:30pm, 7:45pm, 8:00pm). 10-person maximum per group. Only 50 tickets are being sold for this event.
    • • Last tour will end by approximately 9:45pm.

    Parks Canada and the Friends of Fort George invite you to trick or treat at Fort George National Historic Site! Bring your little goblins and ghouls for an afternoon of history and fun. Learn about Halloween traditions in the Regency era, while experiencing musket demonstrations and more! Children who come in Halloween costumes will get some special treats.

    Fort George is bursting with holiday spirit during our annual Garrison Christmas celebration with the Friends of Fort George! We’re decking the halls and stoking the fires to share Christmas traditions from the early 19th century with you! Enjoy crafts, activities, and games for the whole family! Visit the Officers’ kitchen for hot beverages and historic treats and step outside to catch the flash of fire and the blast of a Brown Bess musket like those used in the War of 1812!

  • New Year’s Day Levee

    Start the new year off with a bang! Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada for our annual New Year’s Day Levee!. Celebrations start at 3 pm. with toasts, music by the 41st Regiment Fife and Drum Corps, and a cannon firing to welcome the New Year.
