Plan your visit
Just a 20 minute drive from downtown Halifax, York Redoubt National Historic Site is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm between June 25 and the first Monday in September (Labour Day).
Ample parking is available and admission is free. Visitors should be mindful of the rocky and wooded terrain. Due to the location’s variable seaside climate temperatures can change frequently; bringing a warm jacket is recommended.

By car
The site is off Route 253 (Purcells Cove Road). From downtown Halifax, follow Quinpool Road or Chebucto Road to the Armdale round about. Drive around the round about and take the exit onto Herring Cove Road. At the lights, proceed left onto Purcells Cove Road. Drive about 8km and look for the Parks Canada Beaver sign on the left.
Driving time: about 20 minutes from downtown Halifax, or 10 minutes from the Armdale Rotary.
By public transit
Bus 15 toward Purcells Cove takes you to York Redoubt. Check service and schedules at Halifax Transit.

The nearest airport is Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
