Just a 20 minute drive from downtown Halifax, York Redoubt National Historic Site is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. between June 25th and the first Monday in September (Labour Day). Ample parking is available and admission is free. Visitors should be mindful of the rocky and wooded terrain. Due to the location’s variable seaside climate temperatures can change frequently; bringing a warm jacket is recommended.

The site is off Route 253 (Purcells Cove Road). From downtown Halifax, follow Quinpool Road or Chebucto Road to the Armdale round about. Drive around the round about and take the exit onto Herring Cove Road. At the lights, proceed left onto Purcells Cove Road. Drive about 8km and look for the Parks Canada Beaver sign on the left.
Driving time: about 20 minutes from downtown Halifax, or 10 minutes from the Armdale Rotary.
