New fall dates added! Georges Island National Historic Site is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:20 am to 5 pm, from August 8 to October 11, 2020.

Masks are required while on board the boat and in the tunnels.

Georges Island is in the middle of Halifax Harbour. Travel to the island on the ferry to Georges Island with Murphy's on the Water in Halifax, or by private boat. The waterfront is a five-minute walk from the Via Rail station. Halifax is serviced by the Robert L Stanfield International Airport.

Plan to spend one to two hours on the island, taking in the views of Halifax and exploring Fort Charlotte.

Directions

Georges Island is accessible by sea only. There are two ways to travel to the island:

  • Take the ferry to Georges Island with Murphy's on the Water.
    Book tickets with Murphy's on the Water online, by calling 902-420-1015, or by visiting one of the Murphy’s on the Water kiosk locations on the Halifax waterfront.
  • Travel to the island on your private boat
