Project Description:

This project includes upgrading electrical wiring to Cabot Tower as well as exterior lighting for the tower and the Visitor Centre. The project will also include electrical upgrades for the Quonset hut located along Burma Road near George’s Pond.

Work is now ongoing.

Visitor Impacts:

Access to most pedestrian routes and trails on the site, including the North Head Trail, will not be affected by the work. The project is expected to be completed by March 2020.

This project will involve underground electrical line installation and traffic on Signal Hill Road between George’s Pond and Cabot Tower will occasionally be reduced to one lane to facilitate safe completion of this work. Motorists will encounter work crews, flag persons and temporary signage in the area and are reminded to reduce speeds and obey all traffic signage.

Parks Canada will provide updates here as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
