The shortest of the Signal Hill trails, hikers return from the summit along the same route. 


In the 1700s, Gibbet Hill was the site of a wooden scaffold ("Gibbet") where the bodies of executed criminals were hung on display. Later, Wallace's Battery was built on the hill to cover Signal Hill Road in case of enemy attack.
