The staff at Signal Hill are passionate about sharing their knowledge and love for this unforgettable place. From historic military demonstrations to traditional time keeping, there is an activity for everyone on the Hill. These programs appeal to visitors of all ages. Programs begin when the Visitor Centre opens for the season in May.

Defenders of the Narrows

Step back in time to find out what your life would be like while in service protecting Newfoundland. Get a good look at the Queen’s Battery Barracks, get suited up in an historic uniform, and even fire a musket!

Signal Hill Tattoo

Experience the pride and solemn power of Newfoundland's military past through a showcase of historical music, manoeuvres and pageantry. This powerful demonstration is dedicated to Newfoundland’s military contribution leading up to the First World War.

Noon Day Gun

Learn about the history and purpose of the Noon Day Gun and then step back in time to fire a real cannon.

Ales and Tales

Stunning scenery, rich history, local craft beer, and the freshest fish and chips. Ales and Tales is an experience for the senses, stretching across two of St. John’s most recognized landmarks: Signal Hill and Quidi Vidi Village.

Ghosts of Signal Hill

From storyteller and celebrated folklorist Dale Jarvis comes an evening of ghost stories, historical tales, and strange adventures. Prepare to have your imagination dazzled, your heart stirred, and your spine tingling under the cloak of darkness.
